[2025 National Senior High School Jamboree] Students Visit 1st Tactical Fighter Wing to Learn About National Defense

On January 22, the ROCAF 1st Tactical Fighter Wing collaborated with the 2025 National Senior High School Jamboree by inviting them to visit the Tainan Air Force Base. During their visit, students not only had the opportunity to see multiple weapons up close but also familiarized themselves with national defense - realizing the goals of all-out defense.

In an effort to promote national defense among the public, the 1st Tactical Fighter Wing arranged for students of the 2025 National Senior High School Jamboree to see the IDF fighter jet, GDF-006 35mm twin cannon, and T-75 20mm cannon. In addition, students also had the chance to test the IDF flight simulator, observe GDF-006 35mm twin cannon air defense drills, and try on flight suits. This unique experience thrilled students and allowed them to better understand the importance of national defense.

Upon entering the hangar, students were quickly drawn to the imposing IDF fighter jet. A flight instructor introduced the aircraft’s design and performance to the awe-struck students. This visit also included a quiz, where students who responded correctly were given the rare opportunity to try on flight suits and experience the IDF flight simulator. Thanks to the flight instructor’s friendly guidance, students were able to successfully take off and land their aircraft - providing them with a rare taste of flight.

Students also had the chance to visit air defense forces, who shoulder the responsibility of defending the regional airspace. Students witnessed the air defense drills of the GDF-006 35mm twin cannon and T-75 20mm cannon, whose fast-rotating barrels greatly impressed all those present. This collaboration enabled students to better understand the sacrifice and dedication of the armed forces while significantly strengthening their confidence in the nation’s military capabilities.
