Upon being notified of the situation by the Civilian Aviation Administration, the Ministry of National Defense immediately provided assistance. The ROCAF 6th Mixed Wing deployed C-130H transport aircraft to the Penghu Islands to assist stranded passengers in returning home, demonstrating the military’s compassion and love for its people.

The C-130H transport aircraft conducted 3 sorties from Magong City to Siaogang, safely ferrying 210 people back to Taiwan proper and resolving the transportation crisis. By enabling passengers to return home safely in the shortest time possible, the military proved its ability to respond decisively and rapidly.

Throughout the operation, both air and ground personnel worked tirelessly to ensure that pre-flight preparations and flight procedures were in order. Ground personnel also guided passengers in exiting the plane and assisted with unloading their luggage, allowing the entire operation to be conducted efficiently. Thanks to the expertise and teamwork of personnel honed through constant training, the mission was a great success, exemplifying not only the Air Force’s capabilities but its commitment and duty to protecting and serving the people.

Cheng recently presided over the “Class A 2024 Graduation and Pilot Wings Ceremony” at the Air Force Flight Training Command, where he pinned the pilot wings on the graduating officers, reminding them of their sacred duty to defend the nation’s airspace and urging them to pursue excellence in their future careers.

Gen. Cheng noted that these wings merely marked the beginning of their careers. As defenders of the nation’s skies, pilots aren’t just held to a higher moral code and expected to refine their skills and language abilities, but also to uphold discipline and follow procedures during emergencies. Regardless of their skill level, every pilot must always fly with the caution of a first-time flyer, to ensure no accidents occur.

Gen. Cheng expressed his gratitude to all attending families, remarking that the pilots could have only succeeded with their families’ full support. Finally, Gen. Cheng reminded all graduating pilots to remain steadfast and true to their duties, venturing forth into the future with courage, determination, and the Jianqiao Spirit—the ROCAF spirit.

<ModifyUser>webadmin</ModifyUser>

PLA activities in the waters and airspace around Taiwan Apr.15, 2026

1.Date:
6 a.m. Apr. 14 (Tue.) to 6 a.m. Apr. 15 (Wed.)
