ROCAF to Complete Issuance of Anti-Exposure Suits by Late March

2026/01/08

The ROCAF publicly disclosed its latest purchase of OTS-600 anti-exposure suits yesterday, with plans to complete issuance by late March. Combined with training, this latest procurement will enhance pilots’ survivability after ejecting and landing in the sea. The anti-exposure suits are made of water-repellent, flame-resistant, and breathable materials and feature an inner wool lining that allows sweat and moisture to evaporate, effectively reducing heat stress and moisture accumulation. In addition, the suits feature rubber seals at the neck, wrists, and ankles to improve sealing and retain body heat, helping pilots withstand low sea temperatures and improving their chances of survival-thereby maximizing the critical window for rescue.

The anti-exposure suits are available in fourteen sizes, allowing pilots to select suits that best fit their body type without impeding flight operations. In addition, under operational regulations, personnel conducting maritime flight missions are required to wear the suits throughout the mission when sea temperatures fall below 18°C during the day or 20°C at night, ensuring adequate thermal protection in the event of emergencies.
