To celebrate mothers everywhere for their extraordinary sacrifice and the virtue of filial piety, ROCAF Chief Gen. Cheng recently visited Pingtung Air Force Base on behalf of Wellington Koo, Minister of National Defense, to attend the 2026 Exemplary Mother Award Ceremony. This year’s recipient is Ms. Liao Hsiu-fen, who was awarded a plaque, a cash award, and gifts in recognition of her dedication to raising her children, and supporting their decision to serve in the military.
During the ceremony, Gen. Cheng warmly interacted with Ms. Liao’s family members, expressing his admiration for Ms. Liao’s devotion to her family and noting how she has influenced her children by instilling positive values. In addition, Gen. Cheng encouraged all service members to remember the importance of upholding filial piety. He emphasized that the support of family enables personnel to remain dedicated to their mission, pursue excellence in their duties, and contribute to the overall readiness of the force.
