The National Day Preparatory Committee organized aerial rehearsals ahead of the National Day Celebrations, featuring military forces in aerial performances.

In preparation for the National Day celebrations on October 10, 2025, the National Day Preparatory Committee organized an aerial rehearsal on October 8. Participating units took off during early hours and flew over the Presidential Palace. Among the participating aircraft was a CH-47SD helicopter flying with a massive national flag suspended, as well as a number of aircraft from the Thunder Tigers Aerobatics Team trailing the national colors of blue, red, and white. These performances amazed onlookers and showcased the military’s excellence in training.

Ensuring safety through 360-degree inspections

For the full aerial rehearsal held on October 8, the Army deployed 1 CH-47SD transport helicopter and 2 UH-60M utility helicopters to carry the national flag, while the Air Force deployed 5 Brave Eagle Advanced Jet Trainers. Aircraft of the Army and Air Force took off from Songshan Air Base and Hsinchu Air Base, respectively, flying over the Presidential Palace in an impressive formation.

Hsinchu Air Base was already bustling with activity during the early hours, with ground crews conducting 360-degree inspections of the aircraft and their components to ensure safety. Meanwhile, the aircraft tasked with carrying the national flag also underwent inspections. Under the supervision of the ground ACT and the chief mechanic, the flag and attached weights were assembled and prepared for takeoff.

Executed with precision and skill

During the early hours, commuters in Taipei City were surprised by the booming roar of helicopters flying overhead. First, the formation carrying the national flag, accompanied by 2 UH-60M utility helicopters and a CH-47SD transport helicopter, flew over the Presidential Palace. Against the backdrop of the thunderous roar of engines, the national flag unfurled in the clear skies, celebrating Taiwan’s liberty, democracy, and progress. Following them, a formation composed of 5 Brave Eagle Advanced Jet Trainers streaked over the Presidential Palace and dashed towards the Taipei 101, trailing blue, red, and white smoke — bringing the day’s rehearsal to a successful end.
