2025/03/15

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), the enduring cradle of the ROCAF’s professional maintenance and repair personnel, celebrates its 89th founding anniversary this year. To celebrate this joyous day, the AFIT organized a model exhibit, a calligraphy exhibit, and even a sports event. On March 14, AFIT invited all its alumni to attend a grand ceremony commemorating the institution's founding. By uniting generations past and present, the AFIT hopes to inspire its students to seek excellence in the defense of the nation.

The AFIT’s 89th anniversary ceremony was held at Jieshou Campus yesterday and presided over by AFIT Principal, Maj. Gen. Lee. During the ceremony, Maj. Gen. Lee presented the Outstanding Alumni Award to 8 alumni, including the current Air Force Maintenance and Support Command Commander, Maj. Gen. Hsu, and the former Air Force Logistics Command Chief of Staff, Guan Yu-cheng. Maj. Gen. Lee praised them for their achievements, highlighting how they had exemplified selfless sacrifice, dedication to excellence, and commitment to duty in their respective fields.

Maj. Gen. Lee noted that as the AFIT was the military’s sole institute dedicated to training aviation technicians, all students and instructors should carry themselves with pride and integrity and strive to seek excellence in their future endeavors. Maj. Gen. Lee also encouraged all students to follow in the footsteps of outstanding alumni such as Mr. Guan and Maj. Gen. Hsu. By carrying on the torch of loyalty and bravery for future generations, the AFIT not only strengthens the resolve against hostile threats but also trains skilled aviation technicians to defend the nation.

In addition, a series of events were also held to celebrate the AFIT’s founding anniversary. Among them was a military model exhibition titled “Who But Us to Rule the Skies”, which invited military modelers from far and wide to display their completed works. Visitors were able to learn more about aviation thanks to the thrilling introductions provided by teachers. As for the sports event, the AFIT held a tug-of-war competition, relay race, and fun games. Despite being tired from the action-packed day, all students were nonetheless thrilled to participate, demonstrating their dedication to both academic and physical pursuits. Witnessing the students strengthen their resolve to defend their nation, the AFIT aspires to it may contribute by training skilled personnel for the future.
