Brave deeds live on for eternity

Gen. Dong, and many other distinguished guests. The Hsinchu City Government and Air Force Command Headquarters presented commemorative vests and gloves at the event, honoring the legacy of Black Bat Squadron veterans.

Lt. Gen. Dong stated that the history of the Black Bat Squadron remained classified for many years, with even their families only learning of their legendary deeds after they were declassified. We must remember that the sacrifice of our forebears laid the foundation for our current peace and prosperity. The ROCAF will uphold their legacy of loyalty and bravery, keeping the “Jianqiao” spirit close to heart and defending the nation’s skies with great vigor and determination.

Squadron member Chiu Chui-yu noted that thanks to the efforts of instructor Li Chung-shan, the Black Bat Squadron Memorial Hall was established on its former site. Beyond providing squadron members and their families with a place to meet annually, it also preserves and honors their legacy for future generations.

Remembering the past, together

To provide a more comfortable and enjoyable experience, the Black Bat Squadron Memorial Hall was closed for renovations for a year, during which its interior space and outdoor layout were revamped. A new exhibit also made its debut - “Fearless: The Missions and Families of the Black Bat Squadron”. In addition, Silent Wings, a book based on the experiences of squadron member Ho Tso-min that details the squadron’s courage and daring, was also revealed yesterday. Squadron members visited the newly opened Memorial Hall and reminisced about their days of service.
