ROCAF Chief, Gen. Liu Jen-yuan, inspected the Taichung area’s air defense units yesterday, during which he acknowledged their efforts and expressed concern over their daily needs. Gen. Liu encouraged them to closely monitor the airspace and safeguard important facilities possibly targeted by the enemy with their air defense barrage.
After being briefed on the unit’s mission, and understanding the unit’s organization and training program, Gen. Liu requested the unit’s cadre to combine its garrison training with sea-air live fire exercises. These changes will enable personnel to improve their weapons handling as well as ability to respond. Gen. Liu subsequently visited the equipment area and living quarters, ensuring that service members’ living accommodations were well and that they enjoyed proper leave. He also reminded them to hydrate properly, as the recent hot weather had increased the risk of heat casualties.
Gen. Liu noted that every second was critical in air defense. As air defense technology continues to advance, so has the training requirements for operating personnel. Thus, everyone must commit themselves to training, thereby enabling personnel to search, aim, and fire at hostiles with speed and efficiency. By training personnel to fully understand their mission and duties, the ROCAF will become an even more formidable force in the defense of the country’s airspace.
