In an effort to promote all-out defense education, teachers and students from the National Taitung Senior High School were invited to the ROCAF Flight Training Command on January 1. Maj. Gen. Huang, the Commander of the unit, welcomed them personally, and arranged multiple interesting activities for them during their visit. These activities provide students with a greater understanding of how pilots are trained, and also reinforce public appreciation for national defense.
Students learned a lot from this experience.
The teachers and students first visited the flight simulator classroom, where students had a chance to try out the flight simulator themselves. As the students observed the static displays, a flight instructor carefully explained to them the arduous training required for one to become a qualified pilot. Prospective pilots have to undergo training on the flight simulator and T-34 training aircraft, before going on to train on the AT-3 or Brave Eagle advanced training aircraft. Students learned a lot from this experience.
Lastly, Maj. Gen. Huang thanked the National Taitung Senior High School for their visit on behalf of the unit; he believes that such an experience will enrich student understanding and appreciation for national defense. Maj. Gen. Huang hopes that every one of them will choose to join the ROC Air Force in the future, where everyone can work together to defend the skies of Taiwan.
