President Tung-Liang Li from the Friends of Armed Forces Association (FAFA) visited Air Force units in northern Taiwan on May 27 to thank them for their service. In addition to learning about the living conditions and environment of officers and men stationed in remote regions, he also acknowledged their contributions to national security, and expressed his sincere gratitude to all the officers and men on behalf of society.
Northern Taipei started raining in earnest this morning due to the effects of the plum rain front. However, the rain did not quench President Li’s determination to support the troops. Accompanied by Deputy Chief of Staff Lt. General Ting-Sheng Li, Deputy Director Maj. General Liu from the Political Warfare Bureau, and FOFA Secretary-General Hong-Tu Tsai, he traveled to an Air Force unit in northern Taipei in the morning to present them with a gift of money and goods. His visit was enthusiastically welcomed by the troops.
During his visit, President Li did not just express on behalf of the business community and the rest of society his respect for all the Armed Forces’ hard work in defending the nation. He also went to the guard posts at each base to remind them to stay safe and warm while on duty, as well as thank them for protecting their home, nation, and the citizens.
“The Armed Forces are the shield of the people. The Friends of Armed Forces Association is then the shield of the Armed Forces.” said President Li during his speech. Many members of the Armed Forces are stationed on high mountains and in remote regions carrying out critical missions. Despite the hardships, they still stay in their posts to ensure that the people can live in peace. “The dedication of the Armed Forces should not be taken for granted.” President Li emphasized that he will do everything he can to secure more resources for the troops. He looked forward to continuing to serve the troops in the future and increase public support for the Armed Forces as well.
