May 11, 2023 – Air Rescue Group Rescues Crew From a Burning Vessel

On May 11, the Chiayi AFB received orders to dispatch a UH-60 helicopter to the northern waters of Taiwan. A fishing vessel registered in Taiwan, Shuenn Fwu Yu No. 83 had caught fire and needed to be rescued. The 4 crew members of the fishing vessel were successfully rescued at 0915hrs and arrived safely at Songshan AFB at 1039hrs. Without doubt, this rescue mission demonstrates the ROCAF’s care and compassion for its countrymen. 💪

Shuenn Fwu Yu No.83 caught fire at sea.

The fishing vessel’s 4 crew members were successfully rescued.

A rescue mission was carried out for the Shuenn Fwu Yu No.83.

A UH-60 helicopter was dispatched to the northern waters of Taiwan to rescue the fishing vessel, which had caught fire.

The helicopter returned safely to Songshan AFB.
